Ron Mexico....Back in the Saddle
When I think of Philadelphia sports fans, my immediate reaction is: compassion, forgiveness, and above all the belief that giving it your best shot is all anyone can ask for. That's why when it was announced that Michael Vick (aka Ron Mexico) had been signed by the Eagles it all made a lot of sense to me. Here is a guy who has not stepped on a football field in close to 3 years and the headlines that came across the wire were "Eagles and Vick iron out an agreement on a 2 year deal". What the hell was there to be ironed out? This guy pissed away $130mil and just got out of jail. What were his other options? He is completely broke. The best quotes came from Donovan Mcnabb who is happy to have Vick on board and lobbied for his signing. I don't blame Mcnabb at all. Eagle fans have been on his case for years and unless Coach Reid decides to run the Wildcat for an entire game I don't think Donovan has anything to worry about. As for Vick/Ron Mexico, I am sure he is longing for a return to a more simpler time when all he had to worry about was getting busted for some dope at the airport and passing along a few STD's.
