BP To Buy the Mets????

Ok there is absolutely no truth to the aforementioned headline. However, after losing two of three games to the lowly Arizona Diamondbacks, the Mets need "Change they can believe in". Right about now the only people in corporate America that look more inept than our friends over at BP are the Wilpon's. For the record, in no way am I trying to make light of the atrocity in the gulf, I am merely pointing out the similarities between two incredibly putrid organizations.

While the Mets have spent money during the past two off seasons, unfortunately for Mets fans, this money has been ill spent. Despite applauding the signing of K Rod, we now know why the Angels were willing to let him go without a fight. As for this years grand prize Jason Bay, it appears as though he is completely out of place in New York. Sure, the money is nice but Bay strikes me as someone who would just assume play for a perrenial loser, where he could methodically go about his business without any of the glare that comes from playing in New York. As for the manager and general manager, they have outstayed their welcome and need to hit the bricks. Until there is a massive overhaul in terms of leadership(including the Wilpon's, this team will continue to pursue the wrong type of players, those who lack a killer instinct.

After betting on the Phillies to avoid a three game sweep at the hands of the lowly Nationals, I find myself more nervous than Al Gore in a massage parlor. I have seen how this story ends too many times before (most recently last night). Brad Lidge or someone else from the bullpen will throw the game away either in the 9th inning or at some point thereafter, thus leaving me shaking my head and wondering "How could I be so stupid". Mets fans take solace because while your team stinks, the Phillies are going nowhere either. Their offense is inconsistent and aside from Halladay, their pitching is a joke. As for the signing of Oswalt, it made sense to try and make a final run with this current group of players, however Roy is shot at this point and will fail miserably come september. As great as Oswalt's been over the years, his body is breaking down and come October the only jersey's being worn will be Eagle jersey's (good luck with that).
